Gamby & Co., Inc. dates back to the early 1940’s, when its founder, Gamby Global, Inc.rner Gamby, a 1930's German emigrant, working for the East India Co., Inc., a textile importing company, acquired full ownership from his partners. In 1949 the company was renamed W. Gamby & Co., Inc. Mr. Gamby, a brilliant businessman, grew that small textile company into a $120 million dollar greige goods, finished piece goods and converter, supplying unfinished textiles and finished piece goods to the domestic apparel and home furnishing markets. Werner Gamby and W. Gamby & Co., Inc. are well known monikers associated internationally with exemplary moral business integrity. In 2007 Mr. Gamby, at the age of 85, and retiring, sold the company to two employees: Michael R. Scherer, the vice president of finance and Peter Kaye, the greige goods trader. Michael, a certified public accountant with years of apparel and textile accounting and auditing experience, became president and treasurer. Peter, with over thirty years of textile experience, became vice president and secretary. Two years later, W. Gamby & Co., Inc. being a global supplier of greige goods, was renamed Gamby Global, Inc. in order to illustrate the worldwide nature of its business, while maintaining the Gamby name and heritage. Gamby Global, Inc., in addition to its core greige goods business, which encompasses selling greige goods to the industrial and home furnishing markets, the company manufactures a line of men’s and boy’s urban active wear under its brand name Broadway Threads® selling primarily to discount retailers. Through Gamby Global's Broadway Deals division, the company is able to obtain first quality apparel items as well as home goods, at prices substantially lower than wholesale, allowing the company to pass along discounted prices to its customers.
