Currently, the association is exploring the market for shade grown crops such as cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves. The association hopes to promote shade crop farming which is good for the environment and more sustainable for the region. The association would focus on organizing the farmers to produce high-quality spices, where individual producers are rewarded for their efforts to produce better quality. Also, by facilitating direct processing and marketing, the association would help farmers acheive a higher price for their crops, while at the same time offering customer's very fresh spices at competative prices. All the spice farmers in the East Usambara Mountains currently practice organic agriculture, so the association will also be seeking organic certification. In the future, the association may also produce products, like spiced tea mixes with tea, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper.
