Albion Services provide metallurgical cleaning services & various metallurgical functions to Richards Bay Mineral (Producers of Ilminite, Zircon, Rutile & Pig Iron) . All magnetite sand approximately 150000MT per annum is discarded as tailings. A proposal to treat the magnetite for export has been given to Richards Bay Minerals. The proposal has been accepted in pricipal, but a firm market agreement has to be put in place prior to Richards Bay Minerals giving us the go ahead. Monazite was also produced by Richards Bay Minerals in the past approximately 4000MT per annum. A proposal was also given to recover the monazite for export purposes. The proposal is also on the table pending a stable market. We can also purchase zircon & rutile with the required grade from Richards Bay Minerals. The South African goverment wants down stream product processing to start taking place in South Africa. At our port in Richards Bay a trade free area is being developed for the down stream product processing plants & export. An example will be to buy Zircon from Richards Bay Minerals treat it one step further to add value & then to export. We will be interested to set up a permanent relationship with an overseas company to add value to eg. Zircon & to then export it to that specific company. The company will however need to supply the technology to add value to the raw zircon prior to export. We want to urge all companies interested to contact us for further discussions.
