Design Engineering for the Toroidal transformer, Gunnar Ennerfelt, and co-inventor of the Inverter welder and the PowCon welder, Goran Hedberg, were determined to design and produce the most reliable portable welder in the world. Having moved to the United States from Sweden in the 1970s, the partners sucessfully produced five models for various welding processes in the first three years of business. These models include The Workhorse, The Ironhorse, The Studhorse, a capacitor discharged arc-starter TIG machine and an Arc Force model for the European market. The company has also engineered optional packages to protect the machines from corrosion and fluctuating voltages. These are The Seahorse and XT options, which are available for all the machines that ARCON produces. CEO Gunnar Ennerfelt is also President of Toroid Corporation of Maryland, a leading U. S. Toroidal transformer manufacturing company.
