Conditions for the making of glass in Bohemia were historically extremely favourable. The oldest written record of trading in glass comes from as early as 1376. Medieval glassmakers were not only skilful craftsmen, but outstanding designers and artists as well. Manufacturing of glass mouth-blown lamp beads is important too. These beads present basis for traditional Czech costume jewellery, which is highly valued worldwide.
