To reach this end, Sherry spends time keeping up with current colours, home furnishing styles, and the latest fabrication techniques. Her active memberships in the Custom Home Furnishings (CHF) Network and the Window Coverings Association of America (WCAA) provide educational opportunities and important contacts with colleagues, vendors, new products and advancing technology in this industry. As a former Trainer in the Cooperate World, Sherry understands the necessity of continuing Education and Training, and is a graduate of the Window Coverings Advance Career Professional Program from the CHF Academy in Charlotte NC. She searches out new knowledge in her field by subscribing to trade and design publications, networking with other fabricators throughout the world, as well as attending several professional development classes and trade shows on an annual basis. The WCAA is the only non-profit trade association dedicated to the retail window coverings industry and to the dealers, decorators, and workrooms that are its members. The mission of this global association is to make available educational opportunities in the window coverings and interior fashions professions, to encourage a code of ethics for fair business practices in the industry, and to work for the betterment of the industry. The goal of the association is to promote professionalism in the industry, to provide a common voice for the interests of independent retailers and to aid in the success and profitability of its members. It is the only body that certifies an individual as a Certified Window Treatment Consultant and certifies a workroom via its Certified Workroom Professional certification program. In both instances, strict standards are maintained for passing the examination to obtain these certifications. Sherry is currently Secretary on the Executive Board of the Window Covering Association of America Trinidad & Tobago Chapter for the period 2009 / 2010.
