This program, based on a market approach (through small, rural entrepreneurs), aims at demonstrating & validating economically and environmentally sustainable energy end-use and supply models.Then, working further up the energy value chain, GERES Cambodia is engaging in a wide range of activities, including working with stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of biomass fuel and efficient biomass cooking devices for both domestic and small industrial purposes. Those activities include: * Sustainable forestry management; * Efficient charcoal production; * Charbriquettes made from organic and agricultural waste; * Improved cookstoves for domestic households (urban and rural markets) and for small, rural entrepreneurs; * Strengthening value chains through support to private sector initiatives (production/distribution networks). The ultimate goal of these projects is to demonstrate a sustainable local development model based on energy self-sufficiency for local communities.GERES Cambodia, in partnership with ISC (Institute of Standards of Cambodia), founded GERES: ISC Biomass Energy Laboratory (GIBEL) to validate the standards of locally produced stoves and new prototypes, as well as performing materials testing and characterization of biomass resources.The GERES Cambodia team is now made up of more than 80 highly committed & experienced specialists in the energy, environment, carbon audit, agronomy, research, rural development and education sectors.Wood VinegarWe pioneered the production of Wood Vinegar in Cambodia to provide organic soil enrichment and to help the farmers reduce their dependence on chemical fertilizer and chemical pesticides. Our wood vinegar also used for improving plant growth, grow stronger leaves, improving fruit quality. It also can be mixed in animal husbandry feed to improve the meat or egg quality. Palm sugarin Cambodia, Palm Sugar provides farmers with and alternative income during the hot months when they cannot grow rice. This natural sugar is tapped from the 'Borassus Flabellifer' palm tree. Sovannak Palm sugar is the healthiest alternative to white sugar. Our Palm Sugar contains high nutritional values to support the growth of children, it has an unique taste to be used as food flavoring, it is also applied as traditional medicine and many other benefits.
