Situated on a 5 acre site in Knowsley on Merseyside, the 190,000 Square Feet Plant is ISO 9002 Accredited and has a blending and packing capacity of 21 million Kgs of Tea and 6 million Kgs of Instant Coffee. It has positioned itself as the leading Tea and Coffee manufacturer in the United Kingdom. Besides being a major supplier of private labels to most supermarket chains in the United Kingdom, the company is also very active in exports. Gold Crown Beverages (Kenya) Ltd. Is a state of the art Tea Blending and Packing Factory, based in a 55,000 Square Feet Plant which was commissioned in 2002 at Mombasa, Kenya. It has been established to add value to Kenyan Tea, which despite its excellent quality, has been poorly packaged and presented to the consumer by the existing Tea Packers. Kericho Gold and Baraka Chai have taken two years of careful planning to design packaging which will be attractive to the consumer, retain the freshness of the product and has a wide range of sizes and variety to suit every palate and income level. Besides tea we also pack instant coffee which is sold under the brand name of Red Mountain. It is also available in single serve sachet form besides bottles. Our Company has been awarded BRC, ISO 9001-2000 and HACCP Certification by Bureau Veritas of Geneva. HACCP is the ultimate award of Hygiene and Quality that a Food or Beverage Company can achieve and we are the first Tea Company in Kenya and indeed the rest of East, Central or West Africa to be awarded this Certification. In 2005 Global Tea & Commodities Ltd also won the Queens Award for Enterprise. The Group acquired The Red Mountain Coffee Co. Ltd. From Brooke Bond Ltd in November,2000 and it has now positioned itself among the top 5 leading Brands of Coffee in the U. K. In January 2000 we acquired all of the interests of The Commonwealth Development Corporation in Malawi and North Tanzania, which includes Tea Plantations with 3 processing factories in Tanzania and Malawi and Coffee and Macadamia Nuts Plantations and a Large Dairy Farm. In April 2003 in Malawi we also acquired Makandi Tea Estates from Lonrho PLC and also bought over the Largest Tea Broking firm in the country called Tea Brokers Central Africa. We also have within the Group, a Tea Sourcing office in Calcutta and Coimbatore, India. These offices mainly buy Indian Teas for export to the United Kingdom, Russia, Ukraine and Poland.
