- About Us : <The history of Hachiya corporation>Hachiya Corporation opened its first store in 1898 in Kagoshima, Japan.After World War II, Hachiya s second president, Shoji Kawai relocated to Osaka and shifted Hachiya s focus from Japanese-style traditional kimono socks (tabi) to high-end kimono accessories. Kawai s son, Shiro, formed the Think Bee! brand in the 1970s.Hachiya s popularity soared with the release of its original kinchaku bag. Kinchaku bags are small clutch purses, traditionally designed from kimono fabric and used to accessorize kimonos. At that time, most kinchaku bags HACHIYA CORPre made from local Japanese pattern fabrics, but Hachiya had a vision of using imported materials and went abroad in search of new materials in Europe. In Italy Hachiya was first introduced to textile manufacturer, Texnova. Together they formed a partnership, which would change the market dramatically. Texnova gobelin fabric had never before been used to make kinchaku bags and was an immediate success. Today Hatchiya imports Texnova s gobelin fabric for use in most of its product lines. Hachiya s style is a fusion of Japanese traditional design and European textile expertise. Hachiya s exclusive vision and dedication to quality and craftsmanship ensure no one can follow its style. Texnova s gobelin fabric is made by a special machine called Tapestry4.<The designer's profile of Think Bee!>Goro Kawai was born in 1976 to Hachiya Corporation s present CEO, Shiro Kawai. The second of two sons, Goro left Japan after high school to study art and design in London. While there he became interested in fabrics and materials, traveling across Europe to attend numerous textile and material exhibitions. After returning to Japan, Goro joined the production department at Hachiya Corporation where he learned production skills such as design and quality control.Goro s unique and distinctive style is influenced heavily by his travel abroad and his own imagination. His new product line, Just Heart blends his artistic vision together with Hachiya Corporation s 100-years of history and tradition. Goro assumed responsibilities as executive director for Hachiya Corporation in 2008.<Material>Think Bee! products begin with high-quality fabrics and materials imported from across Europe and North America. TEXNOVA, one of our chief suppliers, is based out of Lesmo, Italy. Their gobelin fabric is particularly unique and special to us. Using over 450 threads per inch, gobelin fabric is famous for its elaborate designs and tapestry-like qualities.
