- About Us : Founded in 1997, lubeck studios was established by amanda hughes-lubeck to create bespoke sculptures of the highest quality for the giftware industry and private collectors. Lubeck Studios aim is to provide a unique piece of art that will become pride and joy in peoples homes for many years. Amanda was born in the heart of the potteries on december the 6th,1968, the eldest of twin girls. Having spent many hours watching her grandma create beautiful clay flowers, she was inspired to work with clay herself and began to create sculptures during her childhood. After leaving school she was successful in gaining one of only six student placements at the sir henry doulton school of sculpture. Studying for two years under the guidance of such prolific sculptors as dame elisabeth frink. After graduating from the school of sculpture, amanda was given a trainee placement in the beswick design department of royal doulton. During the next 10 years amanda progressed from trainee to head of studio and designed and modelled about 100 sculptures including beautiful horses and the world famous bunnykins. Amanda left royal doulton in 1997 to start a family and to work as a freelance artist. Creating many sculptures for the most renowned ceramic houses such as royal worcester, wedgwood, peggy davies ceramics, royal doulton, welsh porcelain and bairstow manor pottery. Also many giftware manufacturers such as border fine arts, collectible world studios, holland studio craft, robert harrop designs and heredities. Amanda can create sculptures from beautiful figurines to abstract pieces using most mediums from clay to bronze. We are now manufacturing our own range of fine pieces of art from figurines to contemporary abstract. What ever your requirements may be we will be pleased to help.
