- About Us : Most families in rural China cook and heat their homes using stoves that burn coal or wood. Domestic energy use is a significant contributor to deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions. Coal use in particular leads to dangerous levels of indoor air pollution, and contributes to the poor outdoor air quality in much of China as Luoyang Engineering Mechanism Design Institutell. There is a significant resource of biomass residue such as straw and maize cobs that could be used as fuel, but current stove designs do not burn this effectively. Our improved stove can burn crop residues, both loose and compressed into pellets, as well as wood. By partially gasifying the fuel, and then burning the gas with secondary air, the stove achieves a high efficiency (over 40%) and low emissions. Using this stove with straw briquettes instead of coal reduces the cost of cooking and heating, and achieves a reduction of tons of CO2 a year. Alternatively, families that cook with wood-fuel can halve their wood consumption. The stove reduces the concentrations of air pollutants in kitchen, it cooks quickly and is easy and safe to use. We were granted Innovation Excellent Award from Shell Foundation in 2007 for High Efficiency, Low Emissions Household Biomass Stoves In China And Abroad, since then our stoves have won consecutive years for the bid of Agriculture Ministry Tibet Area 1 Stove And 1 Oven Project, as well as Demonstrating Project Of Energy Saving In Cooking.
