Ansen Cast has many advantages comparing with traditional plaster cast: lightweight, high strength, X-ray radiolucent and air-permeability. Also cast removal generates dust which is lower in quantity and larger in particle size than the dust generated upon removal of a plaster cast. Ansen Cast is intended for use in the construction of most common orthopedic casts. It is mainly used for the external fixation of fracture or sprain to make the bone heal in the orthopedics, plastic surgery and general surgery. Wear surgical gloves. 3. Before opening the package, select the roll of proper size. 4. Immerse the cast in room temperature water (21-24?) for 4-6 seconds and squeeze it 2-3 times to complete penetration of water into the body of the roll. The higher the water temperature is, the faster cast hardens. 5. Wrap spirally, overlapping the previous layer by one-half or two-thirds the width of the roll. Keep the proper tension and take care to avoid excessive tightness. Just 3-4 layers provide a strong non-weight-bearing cast and 5-6 layers are typically adequate for weight-bearing cast. 6. After water soak the cast begins to solidify in 3-5 minutes and can bear weight enough in 20 minutes. Generally the operation will be finished in 3 minutes. Smooth and rub the surface to achieve good contact between layers. It needs to be avoided excessive action within 10 minute
