Use in Paint industry – Linseed oil is commonly used in paints, coatings and varnishes because of its drying, binding and hardening properties. – Paints and coatings that have linseed oil in them are considered as the highest quality and most durable products. Use in Cosmetic industry -Due to the high content of fatty acids, linseed oil has moisturising, nourishing and softening effect. – Linseed oil is used in several cosmetic products to treat irritated, rough and flaky skin. It is also used in sunscreens. Use in Construction industry – Due to the drying properties of the linseed oil, it is made into a paste and then used as a sealant for glass windows. – Linseed oil is also used in putty as a hardener. Putty is generally used as a sealant or filler in construction and repair. Use in Flooring industry – Linseed oil, in association with different resins and solvents is used to make linoleum. – In order to make linoleum .i.e. a smooth floor covering, linseed oil is solidified.
