A harmonious whole must be created in order to result in the production of wines of the highest quality. The beginnings of wine production in the valley date back to classical times. Development continued into Byzantine times, and the Slavs, who later settled the territory, also adopted the tradition. NegotinoNegotino is situated on the right bank of the river Vardar. The city is about 150 metres (490 ft) above sea level. Negotino is in a vineyard region and the gates of the Tikves basin, known for its fertility are located nearby. The settlement existed and developed in antiquity and in the 3rd century BC, under the name of Antigone. It was founded by the Macedonian king Antigonus II Gonatas, in the period between 278 - 242 BC. After conquering Paionia, he conquered the settlements around the central Vardar region. In his name, the settlement that he founded was called Antigonea..International highway M - 1 pass trough Negotino, and also it is parallel international railway relation Skopje - Negotino - Thesaloniki, and Negotino - Skopje - Belgrade.Vineyards In Negotino or in Povardarie region it is 3000 hectare vineyards. From nomenclature of red types of grape here its: Vranec, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and from white types of grape its: Riesling, Traminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Smederevka. Like remarkable wine region in R. Macedonia also and in Negotino it is Disan Region and is faraway from Negotino up to 6km.
