• About Us : Sisimae Cooperative Society Ltd was incorporated under the PNG Cooperative Societies Act 1985, as a vehicle to encSisimae Cooperative Society Ltdage enterprise involving rural villagers; and to promote sustianable economic and social growth for the community. It comprises of about 25members at present. Members are all rural villagers, whose livelihoods depends very much on artisinal fishing and subsistence farming. Sisimae's main objective is therefore to combine these efforts and develop the resources of the rural villagers, in competitive areas such as organic cocoa farming for exports to overseas markets. In addition, Sisimae is exploring other projects, mainly fisheries; and other related projects to improve the livelihoods of its members. As part of these efforts, Sisimae has already commenced cocoa farming, with an estimated 40hectares of Cocoa to be planted by end of 2011. On top of that, we have secured funding from the National Government to kick-start a fisheries project. To support the capital items such as cooling systems. Sisimae is exploring the possibility of developing a pico-hydro system for its members and community to sustian the electrical items procured recently. We have enormous hydraulic potential in our area, which we will convert to electrical power for usage and sell excess power to consumers within our area.
