• About Us : &acirc;€œthe Family tree&acirc;€ is an organization created under the direction of God. Its purpose, in this capacity (beauty), is to provide women with dark skin and coarse curly hair with natural products that work and to improve self- esteem. The present mindset tells us that The Family Tree need to straighten our hair with a chemical compound called a &acirc;€œrelaxer&acirc;€ and slather our skin with the by- products of crude oil called petrolatum and mineral oil. The truth is these products are a contradiction of themselves in their intended use. Relaxers may straiten the hair, but it causes it to &acirc;€œstress&acirc;€. The results being dry, brittle, strands and split ends - pure damage. Not relaxing. Like prescription medication more chemicals are needed to &acirc;€œtreat&acirc;€ the side effects of relaxing. To make it worse, relaxed hair is often styled further with heat. In addition, these products and services cost a lot of money that could be used for other purposes. Creating more damage. If this was medication, it would be taken off the market. Who wants to use a product that they do not truly need that creates more problems that it heals? Furthermore, lotion and other skin &acirc;€œmoisturizers&acirc;€ are not made for persons whose ethnic heritage is of the hot & dry regions of the earth. Our skin, like our hair, is drier than most. We need thick effective moisturizers. That is why many of our hair and skin products tend to have mineral oil and petrolatum in them. This is a mistake. They appear to moisturize because the skin is no longer looks ashy or has a dry feeling. What these products truly do is sit on top of the skin to form a layer of grease. Moisturizers are meant to be absorbed and its continued use should improve the skins texture over time (if damaged), or maintain the health glow and supple feel of healthy skin for life. Many of us are putting chemicals in our hair to change its beautiful God given and created texture for manageability and societal pressures to look like everyone else. It does not have to be this way. With the proper care, beginning by removing mineral oil and petrolatum from the skin and hairs diet; healing begins on the surface and is absorbed on a much deeper level. Assisted by proper water intake, the hair becomes strong, healthy, and healed. The regular use of our creams will improve the health and strength of the nails also. How is that for a side-effect!? Our mission is to remove the word "ashy" from our vocabulary and to reduce the number of "relaxer" services performed every year. We offer reasonably priced and effective healing treatments for the hair and skin.
