- About Us : Tricot Industries is the largest knitting factory in Nepal. Tricot is the successor and much enlarged version of Makalu Cashmere Fashions which has been in existence for the last fTricot Industries years. During the last four years, we produced and exported cashmere, cotton, merino, lambswool, and blended knitwear to Europe. Our production capacity is based on two factories here. Our knitting machines are in 5,8 and 12 gauges. We can produce 2,000 pieces in plant 1 and over 2000 pieces in plant 2 per day, working in two shifts. With yarn available, we can make 100,000 sweaters per month, taking all the gauges of production into account. We have the capability of producing sweaters with jacquard, embroidery, cables or any other knit structure. While we are importing most of the other yarns, acrylic and blended yarns are produced in Nepal by one of our sister companies. We have recently concluded our expansion programme. Most of our workers are female and all have been trained by the plant management. Nepal being one of the least developed countries, imports of knitwear from Nepal to most of the countries is entitled duty free access. This makes the landed cost cheaper by 12 to 20 per cent, depending on tha country. Also, being in Nepal, our production cost is relatively low. Our nearest port is Calcutta in India and it is about 600 kilometres from our factory. Nearest international airport is at Kathmandu. We are now getting our website designed and developed which have buyer specific folder or pages to give updated status of every order of the buyers registered with us or placed orders with us. Buyers will have passwords for access to their folders. Next year, we shall be establishing our own knitting yarn spinning plant so as to shorten our shipment response time and also allow our buyers comprehensive sample development facility. Our corporate office is in Kathmandu, Nepal and our production plants are in Biratnagar which is also in Nepal. We have a representative office in Gurgaon and in Dubai. Our production plants being located only two kilometres away from the nearest Indian frontier at Jogbani, we are not hindered in sending out shipments across the Indian border or receiving inbound shipments from Indian ports.
